DO YOU COME TO MY HOUSE OR DO MY PETS GO TO YOUR HOUSE? This have been the most commonly asked question we have received for 16+ years. Although, on occasion, we have taken animals into our homes, we have focused mostly on the in-home petsitting side of pet care. Your pets get to remain in the comfort and safety of their own home. We try to match your normal routine and do whatever necessary to keep them happy and stress-free. We are proud to announce our CATS ONLY Bed and Breakfast option. Details about THE OSWEGO CAT LODGE can be found at our pawswego.com address.

WHAT IS THE FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION ALL ABOUT? We will come by your home to meet with you and your furry family members. If we all like each other, we will fill out an animal heath record together (the medical history and care of your pets) and both sign a service contract. This is a good time to obtain a copy of your house key; so you can avoid the fee for our making an extra trip out for it.

DO WE NEED TO GO THROUGH THIS EVERY TIME I LEAVE TOWN? No. Once we have your house key and your service contract on file, just a quick call or email is all you need to book service anytime in the future.

HOW SAFE ARE MY HOUSE KEYS? Your keys are coded and always stored in a locked and secure location in our office, separate from any files or information which could link the key to your address. While in service, they are clipped onto your petsitter's person at all times. In the highly unlikely event that your keys are stolen or lost, it is covered under our business liability insurance policy. You would be notified immediately and a locksmith would re-key your entire home at no cost to you.

HOW MANY TIMES PER DAY DO YOU COME TO MY HOUSE WHILE I AM GONE? As many times as you book us for. Every situation is unique. Dogs typically need 2-3 visits per day and cats usually need only one daily visit. We will arrange a schedule, with you, to best suit your pet(s). Dogsitting visits are never more than 12 hours apart and catsitting visits are never more than 24 hours apart.

HOW LONG IS EACH VISIT? The average petsitting visit is about 30 minutes long. We block out one hour for each job, and that includes travel time. So, the closer you are to your petsitter's home, the longer the time spent with your pets will be. You are more than welcome to request additional blocks of time at $5 per 15 minute intervals.

WILL I KNOW EXACTLY WHO IS COMING INTO MY HOME WHILE I AM GONE? The person you meet in your initial consultation will be the owner of the business. In some cases, she will not be your sitter. Some jobs do belong to our staff, such as all overnight/housesitting care. We will give you the opportunity to meet with your sitter, if that makes you feel more comfortable. If your sitter later becomes unable to do your job, there is always a back up sitter available who is equally qualified and aware of your pet's specific needs. ALL Petsitters and Independent Contractors working under PAWSWEGO are covered by our business liability insurance and they are also all bonded.

WHAT IF MY PET BECOMES ILL OR INJURED WHILE I AM AWAY? We are experienced and trained in animal first aid. We will knowledgeably assess your pet's condition and, if need be, contact your preferred veterinarian. We also work with a network of local veterinarians and 24 hour emergency facilities. If your pets require medical care, we will contact you as soon as possible at your emergency numbers on file and keep you informed throughout their treatment.

WILL YOU BE CONTACTING ME JUST TO LET ME KNOW EVERYTHING IS GOING SMOOTHLY WHILE I AM ON VACATION? As far as we are concerned, "no news is good news". However, we will do whatever it takes to give you peace of mind while you are away from home. Please let us know how often we should check in, and we will be happy to provide you with that extra level of service.

HOW AND WHEN DO I PAY YOU? Payment for services is due at the time of booking. You may mail in a check or go ahead and rack up those air miles by making a VISA or MasterCard payment over the phone. Please do not leave payment on the counter at your home for the sitter to pick up. We prefer it go directly to the owner of PAWSWEGO.

SHOULD I LEAVE A TIP FOR MY PETSITTER? Some clients do and some clients don't. It is a matter of personal preference and your own level of satisfaction with the service you might have received in the past from your professional pet care provider. Some clients leave gift cards or cash for their sitters, or maybe a simple thank you card. It really depends on you and the connection you may or may not feel with your sitter. Your petsitter always has a unique bond with your pets, and that is all that really matters.
